Santi Pregnancy Facial
A gentle, hydration-focused facial specially adapted for pregnancy, when skin can become more sensitive, dry, reactive or unpredictable.
We simplify rather than intensify: carefully selected skincare, barrier support, gentle exfoliation where appropriate and relaxing facial massage — without retinoids, aggressive peels or unnecessary high-strength actives.
A facial designed specifically for pregnancy
Pregnancy can alter the way skin behaves. Some people become drier or more sensitive; others notice increased oil production, congestion or changes in pigmentation.
The Santi Pregnancy Facial is not simply a standard facial with one ingredient removed. The treatment is adapted around your stage of pregnancy, current skincare, sensitivity and how your skin is presenting on the day.
The emphasis is on comfort, hydration, barrier support and gentle skin maintenance rather than aggressive correction.
What can the Pregnancy Facial help with?
Dry or dehydrated skin
Hydrating serums, masks and moisturising products can be selected to support skin that feels drier or tighter than usual.
Sensitivity
Where skin feels reactive, the treatment can be simplified with gentler cleansing, fragrance-free options and minimal exfoliation.
Dullness
Careful superficial exfoliation, where appropriate, can help remove surface build-up and leave the complexion looking fresher and smoother.
Congestion
Treatment can be adapted for pregnancy-related oiliness or congestion without relying on unnecessarily aggressive acids or resurfacing.
Puffiness
Gentle facial massage can be used for relaxation and to help the face feel lighter where mild everyday puffiness is present.
A need to switch off
The facial is deliberately unhurried, with time for facial, scalp, neck and shoulder work where comfortable.
How is the Pregnancy Facial different?
Santi Glow is our broader signature facial and can often be adapted during pregnancy.
The Pregnancy Facial starts from a different premise: pregnancy adaptation is built into the treatment from the outset.
Pregnancy Facial
A dedicated pregnancy treatment centred on hydration, barrier support, comfort and conservative product selection.
Santi Glow
A broader signature facial for glow, exfoliation and hydration, which may be adapted where appropriate for pregnant clients.
What happens during the facial?
Skin & pregnancy check
We ask about your trimester, current skincare, sensitivity, allergies and any medical guidance before selecting products.
Gentle cleanse
The treatment begins with comfortable cleansing to remove makeup, SPF and surface residue without unnecessarily stripping the skin.
Adapted exfoliation
Where your skin is suitable, a mild exfoliation may be used to smooth surface build-up. Sensitive or reactive skin may need very little exfoliation at all.
Hydration & barrier care
Hydrating and barrier-supportive products are selected according to your skin rather than following one fixed protocol.
Facial massage
A gentle facial massage may be incorporated, with scalp, neck or shoulder work where comfortable.
Mask & finish
A soothing or hydrating mask is followed by moisturiser and broad-spectrum SPF where appropriate.
What do we avoid or modify during pregnancy?
Pregnancy is not the time to intensify elective skin treatments. We favour conservative skincare and remove ingredients or procedures where there is insufficient reason to use them.
| Treatment / ingredient | Santi approach | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Retinoids | Avoided | Not appropriate for routine use during pregnancy |
| Strong chemical peels | Postponed | Pregnancy-related sensitivity and pigmentation changes make aggressive resurfacing unnecessary |
| High-strength salicylic treatments | Avoided | We favour gentler alternatives during pregnancy |
| Physical exfoliation | Used conservatively | Adjusted according to sensitivity and barrier condition |
| Fragrance | Can be reduced or omitted | Useful where smell sensitivity or skin reactivity has increased |
| Heat | Kept comfortable | The treatment is not designed around intense heat or overheating |
| Energy-based skin treatments | Generally postponed | Elective rejuvenation can wait until after pregnancy |
What does “pregnancy-adapted” actually mean?
We do not describe every product as universally “pregnancy-safe” simply because it is natural, gentle or commonly used.
Instead, we review the actual ingredients and treatment steps, remove inappropriate actives and adapt the facial according to your trimester, medical history and skin condition.
If your own midwife, GP or obstetric team has given you specific advice, that guidance takes priority.
How will I be positioned?
Semi-reclined where needed
As pregnancy progresses, lying completely flat may become uncomfortable. The treatment bed can be adjusted and supported for a more comfortable position.
Tell us what feels right
Pillows, bolsters and positioning can be changed during the appointment. Comfort takes priority over following a fixed facial routine.
What about melasma or pigmentation?
Pregnancy can trigger or worsen pigmentation, including melasma. That does not mean stronger treatment is automatically better.
During pregnancy
We focus on gentle skin maintenance, barrier support and daily broad-spectrum sun protection rather than aggressive resurfacing.
After pregnancy
Persistent pigmentation can be reassessed later, when a wider range of treatment options may be appropriate.
Can I have extractions during pregnancy?
Gentle manual extractions may be considered where there are suitable superficial comedones and the skin is not inflamed or overly sensitive.
They are never compulsory. If pregnancy has made your skin more reactive, we may prioritise hydration and barrier comfort instead.
Can LED be added?
LED may be considered on an individual basis, taking account of pregnancy, photosensitivity, medications and the treatment objective.
It is not automatically required for the Pregnancy Facial, and we would not include a device simply to make the facial feel more “advanced”.
Where LED is considered, the treatment plan and suitability are confirmed before use.

When should the facial wait?
A facial is an elective wellness treatment. If you are unwell or experiencing pregnancy symptoms requiring medical assessment, your maternity care takes priority.
Please postpone and seek appropriate advice if you have:
- Fever or active infection
- Significant acute skin inflammation or infection
- New severe headache or visual disturbance
- Marked or sudden swelling, particularly of the face or hands
- Chest pain or significant breathlessness
Tell us before treatment if:
- You have a high-risk or consultant-led pregnancy
- Your maternity team has advised treatment restrictions
- You have developed new allergies or skin reactions
- You are taking new medication
- You have recently undergone another skin treatment
Keep skincare simple
Hydrate
Continue with a gentle moisturiser suited to your skin and barrier condition.
Protect
Use broad-spectrum SPF daily, especially if pregnancy-related pigmentation is a concern.
Avoid over-treatment
There is rarely a reason to layer aggressive exfoliation or strong actives immediately after a gentle pregnancy facial.

Pregnancy Facial FAQs
When can I have the Pregnancy Facial?
Gentle facial treatments can often be adapted during pregnancy. Tell us your trimester, medical history and any advice from your maternity team so we can tailor the appointment appropriately.
Is every product guaranteed to be safe in pregnancy?
We avoid blanket guarantees. Products and ingredients are reviewed for pregnancy, and inappropriate actives such as retinoids are excluded. Any specific medical guidance you have received should also be shared with us.
Do you use retinol or retinoids?
No. Retinoids are excluded from the Pregnancy Facial.
Can I have a peel while pregnant?
The Pregnancy Facial is not a medium or aggressive chemical peel. Where suitable, only conservative superficial exfoliation is used. Stronger elective resurfacing is normally postponed.
Can you treat pregnancy acne?
We can adapt the facial for mild congestion or oiliness, but active acne may require medical assessment depending on severity. The facial does not replace dermatological care.
Can the facial treat melasma?
The facial can support hydration and general skin quality, but it is not presented as a treatment that will remove melasma. During pregnancy we favour conservative skincare and diligent sun protection.
Can I have facial massage?
Yes, gentle facial massage can be included where comfortable and appropriate. The treatment can also include relaxing scalp, neck or shoulder work.
Is fragrance-free treatment available?
Yes. Please tell us if pregnancy has made you more sensitive to fragrance or if you prefer fragrance-free products.
What if I have a high-risk pregnancy?
Tell us before booking. If you are under consultant-led maternity care or have been advised to restrict elective treatments, we may ask you to confirm suitability with your midwife, obstetrician or GP.
Is the Pregnancy Facial part of the Mum-to-Be package?
