Measuring skin hydration to guide barrier care
We quantify surface hydration at set facial points using a corneometer-style probe and trend results alongside TEWL and sebum for the full barrier picture.

How it works
After a brief acclimatisation, the probe estimates the dielectric constant of the stratum corneum—reflecting surface water. Multiple readings per site improve precision.
- Ambient temperature/humidity logged
- Avoid heavy creams immediately before session
- Average of multiple readings per site
What your reading means
Lower readings indicate dehydration; higher values reflect better water retention. We pair this with TEWL and sebum to choose humectants, emollients and routine cadence.
Notes: Measurements guide care and do not diagnose disease. Values depend on preparation, environment and device tolerances.
