Why clients choose the Hot Stone Facial

For many of our facial clients, stress shows up as jaw clenching, tight neck muscles and a general sense of “holding” in the face. The Hot Stone Facial is designed to address all of that while still honouring your skin’s needs.

Calms the nervous system

Warm stones placed along the shoulders, décolletage and hands help cue a calmer state, easing background stress and encouraging deeper breathing.

Releases jaw, neck & shoulder tension

Slow, sculpting massage and stone work focus on the areas most affected by desk work and teeth clenching — supporting comfort and a softer, more open expression.

Restores glow without aggression

Gentle exfoliation and a hydrating mask are chosen to match how your skin presents on the day — so even reactive complexions can enjoy warmth and relaxation without harshness.

Bridges facial and body work

If you already love our Hot Stone Massage, this is its facial counterpart — focused on the upper body, neck and face, with a strong emphasis on skincare and post-treatment glow.

Who it’s for

  • Clients who carry tension in the jaw, neck, shoulders or temples.
  • Those looking for a more sensorial, cocooning facial without strong peels.
  • Screen-tired, city-stressed complexions needing calm and hydration.
  • Great as a seasonal reset or pre-weekend ritual.

Who it’s not ideal for

  • Very heat-sensitive conditions (e.g. some types of rosacea flare).
  • Active skin infections, open lesions or recent facial surgery.
  • Severe migraine patterns triggered by heat (we can adapt or suggest alternatives).

This treatment is not a substitute for medical care. If you have a diagnosed skin or medical condition, please let us know in advance so we can tailor or advise on suitability.

What happens in your treatment

Every Hot Stone Facial begins with a short consultation so we can understand your skin, current routine and where you’re feeling tension. From there, your therapist will tailor both the skincare steps and the stone work.

  1. Arrival & consultation — discuss goals, sensitivities, any jaw or neck issues and how you like the heat and pressure to feel.
  2. Gentle cleanse & warm compress — a refined double cleanse followed by warm compresses to soften the skin and begin relaxing facial muscles.
  3. Targeted exfoliation — enzyme or light polish to lift surface dullness without stripping the barrier.
  4. Warm stone neck, shoulder & décolletage work — smooth basalt stones, gliding with oil or balm, gently release tightness in the upper back, shoulders and chest.
  5. Facial massage with warm stones & hands — sculpting strokes along the jawline, cheekbones and temples encourage a softer, more rested appearance.
  6. Mask & quiet time — a hydrating or calming mask is applied; stones may be placed along the forearms or hands while you rest.
  7. Finishing care & grounding — eye care, serum and moisturiser suited to your skin, plus SPF during the day. We end with a brief grounding touch so you don’t feel rushed out of the room.

On some visits we may integrate cool stones or cool globes towards the end of the treatment for a balancing, de-puffing finish — especially around the eyes.

Results & aftercare

Immediately
Softer features, quieter mind

Many clients notice a looser jaw, softer shoulders and a calmer overall state, with skin looking fresher and more luminous.

24–48 hours
Peak glow

Hydration and circulation benefits are most visible — make-up tends to sit more seamlessly and the face often appears more “rested”.

Ongoing
Rhythm & reset

Regular sessions (for example every 4–6 weeks) can support better jaw comfort, more balanced stress levels and consistently calmer-looking skin.

Simple aftercare

  • Keep skincare gentle for the evening — avoid strong acids or retinoids that night.
  • Hydrate well and, if possible, keep the rest of the day on the slower side.
  • Use SPF 30–50 daily; avoid saunas and very hot showers for 12–24 hours if you tend to flush.
  • Notice how you feel: some clients sleep more deeply than usual after this treatment.

Common questions

Will the stones feel too hot?
No — we carefully calibrate the temperature so the stones feel comfortably warm, not hot. Your therapist will always check in and can adjust instantly if you’d like them cooler.
Can I combine this with a body massage?
Yes. Some clients book a Hot Stone Massage before or after their facial for a full head-to-toe ritual. Our team can help you sequence treatments.
Is it suitable for sensitive skin?
In many cases, yes. We keep exfoliation gentle and select soothing, barrier-supportive products. If your skin is very reactive, let us know so we can adapt the pace, pressure and product choices.
How often should I book?
For general wellbeing, many clients enjoy this facial every 4–6 weeks, or during more stressful periods as a reset. We can also alternate it with more targeted facials (for example Skin Polishing or LED) depending on your goals.
