Latest Trends in Botox Treatment
As awareness for cosmetic treatments increases, the treatment most often requested is Botox. According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Botox procedures requested by individuals between the ages of 19 and 34 have increased by 41 percent from 2011 to 2015! It’s a function of awareness and acceptability.
Botox Treatments on the Rise
Dr Yazan Ajam, our plastic surgeon, comments that in the past few years, a majority of individuals in their 20’s have come looking for preventative measures for aging and wrinkles. The reason behind this seems to be the increased acceptability and accessibility of such treatments; not to mention, of course, the celebrity endorsements on social media. Whilst still a medical treatment , Botox is now one of the most popular treatments at Santi London.
Botox injections continue to increase in popularity particularly among those below the age of 34. A further development is in the increase in men having botox treatments.
Four Latest Trends in Botox Treatment at Santi London
With the demand for newer, better and analogous Botox procedures on the rise, our plastic surgeons have come up with unique and superior treatment protocols. Here are four interesting and latest Botox trends that have been specially designed for Santi clients.
The Botox Lip Flip: Lip Filler and Botox Duo
It is common knowledge nowadays that lip augmentation is generally performed using hyaluronic acid-based substances known as ‘fillers’. There are many such products out there in the market, but according to plastic surgeon Dr Yazan Ajam, using Botox along with these fillers gives the lips a ‘shapelier’ and ‘poutier’ look.
Remember that fillers and Botox are not similar and do not give the same results. Fillers add volume to the lips, which makes them ‘literally’ bigger. Botox, on the other hand, relaxes muscles around the mouth and provides a subtle pout-magnification – the lip line is flipped and rolled gently outward, giving a fuller and sexier pout without any additional volume. This is a very complex treatment protocol; but then Santi clients demand superior results.
In case of the Botox Lip Flip, Botox is cleverly injected into the muscles around the mouth (medically known as the orbicularis oris). The aim is to target only the superficial muscular layers at the sides of the lower and upper lips with the objective of relaxing them enough to flip outward. The function of the muscle fibers is not damaged in the process. Despite taking less than a minute to perform, the procedure is complicated and intricate, and must be performed by a plastic surgeon.
Needle-Free Botox: The Next Big Thing
Are you afraid of needles? Your problem may be solved soon! Muscle-freezing botulinum toxin is currently available in three forms – Botox (OG), Xeomin and Dysport. They all provide wrinkle-free skin and smooth out fine lines within a few months of usage, but all of them involve injections and slight bruising. In 2019, however, a topical form of Botox – temporarily called DaxibotulinumtoxinA Topical Gel (RT001) – could become available.
To test this wipe-off Botox gel, experiments have been conducted on crow’s feet involving 1,600 participants in clinical trials in USA. There’s one catch though – the gel will have to be administered by a physician. Nevertheless, this is definitely something many individuals are eagerly looking forward to.
Bridal Botox: An Upcoming Sensation
Another interesting Botox trend is the use of botox in brides-to-be as part of their pre-wedding bridal packages. An online survey revealed that recently engaged individuals are increasingly pursuing non-invasive treatments, such as injectables, before their Big Day – 14.8 percent of survey participants showed particular interest in Botox.
But with such effective treatments, comments Dr Yazan, it’s quite understandable that more and more brides are opting for non-invasive beauty treatments, such as light peels, lasers, fillers, and especially Botox. The answer is simple – these treatments are efficient, easy and effective, and most importantly they maintain a natural look.
Botox in a Bottle?
Currently, there are retinol serums that stimulate collagen and thicken the skin, and broad-spectrum sunscreens, which protect skin from radiation-related damage. However, here’s something different that’s trending – a cream duo with the ability of interfering with the muscle contractions that cause wrinkles, making it a skin-care product that hasn’t been seen before.
The night creams contain collagen-stimulating peptides and hydrating agents, whereas the day cream contains hyaluronic acid along with special peptides capable of interfering with the ability of facial muscles to contract. Among these peptides is Palmitoyl Hexapeptide-52, which decreases the number of neurotransmitters that pass through the calcium channel and signal your brain to cause muscle contractions. Another peptide, Palmitoyl Heptapeptide-18, limits the channel’s opening, allowing even fewer signals to pass through. Bottom line: pretty soon we will also have very effective serums and creams that will help stimulate collagen production.
