Pre and Post Treatment following Botox

Come in for a consultation.

Before getting Botox injections, it’s important to consult with us to get a good idea of what your goals are and to evaluate your medical history, current health status, and determine if Botox is the right treatment for you.

Avoid blood-thinning medications:

Blood-thinning medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and certain herbal supplements can increase your risk of bruising and bleeding during the Botox injection. It’s best to avoid these medications for at least a week before your appointment, but make sure to consult with your healthcare provider first.

Stay hydrated:

Drinking plenty of water before your Botox appointment can help keep your skin hydrated and improve the effectiveness of the treatment.

Avoid alcohol:

Alcohol can also increase your risk of bruising and swelling, so it’s best to avoid it for a few days before your appointment.

Avoid strenuous exercise:

Strenuous exercise can increase blood flow to the face, which can increase your risk of swelling and bruising. It’s best to avoid any strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours before your appointment.

Arrive with a clean face:

Make sure your face is clean and free of makeup before your Botox appointment. This will ensure that the injection site is clean and free of any bacteria that could cause an infection.

After getting a Botox treatment, it’s important to take care of your skin to ensure optimal results and minimize any potential side effects. Here is a post-treatment care list:

Avoid touching the treated area:

After the Botox treatment, avoid touching or rubbing the treated area for at least 24 hours. This will help prevent the Botox from migrating to other areas of the face.

Avoid strenuous exercise:

Similar to before the treatment, avoid any strenuous exercise or activity for at least 24 hours after the treatment. This will help minimize any swelling or bruising at the injection site.

Avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications:

As with before the treatment, avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications for at least 24 hours after the treatment. This will help prevent bruising and swelling.

Don’t lie down for at least 4 hours:

Try to remain upright for at least four hours after the treatment. This will help prevent the Botox from migrating to other areas of the face.

Use an ice pack:

Applying an ice pack to the injection site for a few minutes at a time can help reduce swelling and discomfort.

Be patient: It takes time for the effects of Botox to fully take effect, so be patient and wait at least 2-3 days before expecting to see any noticeable changes.

Follow up with Us:

If you have any concerns or questions after the treatment, make sure to follow up with us as soon as possible.
