Dermamelan® Pigmentation Correction
The medically supervised approach for stubborn pigmentation. An intensive in-clinic start followed by a structured home protocol to help regulate excess melanin at its source.
How it works
In-clinic session
Professional depigmenting mask application with aftercare and safety checks.
Structured home regimen
Daily products help moderate melanogenesis over ≈4–6 months.
Maintain results
Photoprotection and maintenance products help reduce recurrence.
Clinic-supervised
Begins in clinic with ongoing guidance for safety and adherence.
Broad concern coverage
Supports melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and sun damage.
Visible improvements
Clarity often improves within weeks; gains build across the protocol.
Regulatory approach
Targets steps in the pigment pathway for longer-term management.
Who it’s suitable for
- Persistent facial pigmentation including melasma and PIH.
- Uneven tone and sun-related dyschromia where daily SPF is acceptable.
- Clients comfortable with a brief peeling phase and consistent home care.
Who may need alternatives
- Active eczema/dermatitis, open lesions, or infection in the area.
- Recent sunburn, tanning, or planned intense sun exposure in the next 4–6 weeks.
- Known sensitivity to depigmenting/exfoliating actives.
- Pregnant/breastfeeding: discuss timing and alternatives first.
Fitzpatrick skin types & personalisation
Protocols are tailored to minimise rebound pigmentation and irritation. For higher Fitzpatrick types, we typically pace actives, emphasise barrier support, and reinforce sun behaviour to protect results.
- I–III Often tolerate standard pacing; strict SPF use still essential.
- IV–VI Gentle escalation with extra moisturisation and careful trigger avoidance.
What to expect (typical timeline)
Days 1–7
Warmth/redness for 24–48h possible; peeling around days 3–5. Use the specific moisturiser and SPF as instructed.
Weeks 2–4
Tone begins to look clearer as flaking settles. Continue the home plan exactly as prescribed.
Months 2–3
Progressive evening of pigmentation. We review and adjust cadence to maintain comfort and results.
Months 4–6
Consolidation phase. Maintenance strategies, SPF habits and trigger management keep gains stable.
Preparation & aftercare
Before treatment
- Pause new actives (strong retinoids/exfoliants) for ~5–7 days unless advised otherwise.
- Avoid tanning and self-tan in the treatment area.
- Bring a list of skincare/medications to your consultation.
After treatment
- Follow the **provided home regimen** precisely (dose, order, and timing).
- Use a gentle cleanser, barrier-supporting moisturiser, and **daily SPF 30–50**.
- Don’t pick or scrub flaking; let it shed naturally.
- Limit heat, vigorous exercise and saunas for the first few days.
Cautions & expected effects
- Transient stinging, redness, dryness and peeling are common early on.
- Irritation may require cadence adjustments—please contact us if discomfort persists.
- Strict photoprotection reduces risks of post-inflammatory darkening, particularly in higher Fitzpatrick types.

Other pigmentation treatments at Santi
How does Dermamelan differ from standard chemical peels?
It combines an in-clinic start with a structured home phase aimed at regulating pigment formation over time, rather than a one-off exfoliation alone.
Can I combine Dermamelan with other treatments?
Yes—sequencing matters. We may combine with light peels or laser/IPL in staged plans, once skin is stable. Your clinician will map the order and spacing.
What if I’m very sensitive?
We’ll pace the regimen, emphasise barrier care and check-ins. Contact us if irritation persists so we can adjust cadence.
Will I need maintenance afterwards?
Most clients benefit from ongoing SPF and periodic maintenance products. We’ll outline a simple plan to help reduce recurrence triggers.
