How IPL Targets Hand Pigmentation

Selective photothermolysis

Controlled light is absorbed by melanin in brown spots. Heat fragments pigment so it can be cleared naturally.

  • Filter and fluence tailored to your skin type.
  • Cooling for comfort; sessions 15–25 minutes.

What to expect

Brown spots often appear darker and “peppery” for a few days before flaking. Tone looks more even as the course progresses.

Daily SPF is essential to preserve results.

Who It’s For, Prep & Aftercare

Good candidates

  • Sun spots and age spots on the backs of hands.
  • Uneven, mottled tone from sun exposure.
  • Realistic expectations and commitment to SPF.

Before your session

  • Avoid sunbeds/tanning; use SPF 30–50 daily.
  • Pause strong actives (retinoids/acids) 5–7 days on the area.
  • Disclose medications, especially photosensitisers.

Aftercare

  • Gentle cleanse, bland moisturiser, SPF daily.
  • No picking; allow flaking to shed naturally.
  • Avoid hot workouts/saunas for 24 hours.

Not ideal for: active tans, melasma, or open lesions on the hands. We’ll advise alternatives if needed.
