Frequently asked questions
Do I need an MRI?
Often no. Many knee issues improve with clinical assessment, load management and progressive strength. We’ll discuss imaging if progress stalls or red flags appear.
How long until I can run?
Depends on irritation and strength. We’ll use a walk/jog progression and criteria (pain, swelling, control) to advance safely.
Should I avoid stairs?
Not necessarily. We’ll coach strategies and dosage so stairs become part of your graded exposure.
Will a brace help?
Sometimes as a short-term aid for comfort or stability. We’ll advise based on your pattern and goals.
Do orthotics help patellofemoral pain?
They can, for some foot mechanics. We’ll assess and suggest simple trials alongside strength work.
