What we measure
Using colour-calibrated imaging and/or a handheld colorimeter, we capture:
- Melanin Index (MI): proxy for brown pigment levels
- Erythema Index (EI): proxy for redness/inflammation
- L*a*b* values: lightness and hue for evenness tracking
How it works
We capture images in controlled conditions and take spot readings at set points (forehead, cheeks, chin). A calibration target ensures consistency. Multiple readings per zone are averaged and trended over time.
- Consistent distance, angle and light profile
- Multiple site readings for reliability
- Environment (light, temperature) recorded
What your readings mean
Elevated MI suggests increased pigmentation; elevated EI indicates redness/irritation. We tailor brightening (e.g., azelaic, vitamin C, retinoids), barrier support, and in-clinic options (peels, IPL for pigmentation), pacing intensity to minimise post-inflammatory risk.
